There is a general consensus that the U.S. passenger transportation system has become more intermodally linked since the passage of ISTEA, but the degree of that connectivity has never been measured. The Intermodal Passenger Connectivity Database (IPCD) was developed to provide a baseline connectivity measurement against which to measure future progress. Since 2007 the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) of the United States (U.S.) Department of Transportation (DOT) has been collecting that data on an on-going basis. Transit bus service locations are not specifically included in the database.
