			<abstract>This dataset contains 1998 countywide surface water quality conditions and
trends as described in the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's
305(b) report.</abstract>
			<purpose>
Section 305(b) of the Clean Water Act requires each state to
conduct water quality surveys to determine whether or not its waterways are
healthy enough and of sufficient quality to meet their designated uses. This
information is compiled into a report called the 305(b) report. The state
prepares this report every two years for the United States Environmental
Protection Agency (USEPA). USEPA then uses this report to prepare a report
to Congress, the National Water Quality Inventory, which describes the
condition of the waters of the United States. The data used for the 305(b)
report comes from the USEPA STORET database, the State's biological database
(SBIO) and fish consumption advisories. This GIS coverage displays the how
well each waterbody evaluated in the 305(b) report meets its designated use.
There are 3 levels: meets designated use, partially meets designated use and
does not meet its designated use. The uses of most waters of the State fall
into three classes: Class I-potable water supply, Class II-shellfish
harvesting, Class III-recreation and propagation of fish and wildlife. For
more information on Designated Uses refer to the State of Florida's rule
62-302 (Florida's Water Quality Standards).

1:100000 scale data sets are recommended for projects that are at the multi-county or regional level.  1:250000 scale data sets are recommended for projects that are at the regional or state level or larger.

Vector datasets with no defined scale or accuracy should be considered
suspect. Make sure you are familiar with your data before using it for
projects or analyses. Every effort has been made to supply the user with

Some of these requirements include: chains must begin and end at nodes, chains must connect to each other at nodes, chains do not extend through nodes, left and right GT-polygons are defined for each chain element and are consistent throughout the transfer, and the chains representing the limits of the file (neatline) are free of gaps. The neatline is generated by connecting the four corners of the digital file, as established during initialization of the digital file.  All data outside the enclosed region are ignored and all data crossing these geographically straight lines are clipped at the neatline.
