With States having limited road construction funding in comparison to local needs, Department’s of Transportation nationwide are looking to make existing roadways as efficient as possible. Park and Ride lots, as part of an integrated transportation system, can be implemented to make maximum use of available transportation funding. In addition, Park and Ride lots have the potential to decrease traffic demand by preserving roadway capacity and encouraging the use of carpooling, vanpooling, and transit. Such facilities are generally far less expensive than the cost of adding roadway capacity or the loss of development opportunities. Park and Ride lots provide the essential safe locations where personal vehicles can be left while commuters utilize high occupancy modes of travel. Point information for LOCATION = SR 50/NARCOOSSEE RD. was deleted because the lot is no longer maintained by FDOT. Addition information was supplied within a separate table. The table had multiple records for each lot location. For each unique lot, all records were deleted from the table except for the most recent INSPDATE.
