The USFWS recovery plan for the Okaloosa darter, and USFWS biologists currently working with the Okaloosa darter believe that the darter is restricted to the Boggy Bayou and Rocky Bayou drainages based on historic and current collections. 2. Using the NHD data, rivers and streams within these sub-basins were selected and converted into a new shapefile. 3. The estuarine portions of Boggy Bayou and Rocky Bayou were removed from the shapefile using the X-Tools Erase command and the USGS Hydrography shapefile depicting the bayous. 4. The field Length in Meters was added to the attribute table using the X-Tools extension Calculate Length command. The field Length in Miles was also added to the attribute table using the field calculator request [Length_meters] / 1609.344 5. The attribute table was cleaned up to include only fields applicable to the Okaloosa darter range.
