    <descript>
This dataset contains latitude and longitude location, as determined by U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC) Shared Information Network (SINET), of selected NRC regulated facilities.
      <purpose>The Environmental Protection Agency defines Environmental Justice as the "fair treatment for people of all races, cultures, and incomes, regarding the development of environmental laws, regulations, and policies." Over the last decade, attention to the impact of environmental pollution on particular segments of our society has been steadily growing. Concern that minority populations and/or low-income populations bear a disproportionate amount of adverse health and environmental effects, led President Clinton to issue Executive Order 12898 in 1994, focusing Federal agency attention on these issues. Through their participation with EPA to address these concerns, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission produced this data set. These data are intended for geographic display and analysis at the national level, and for large regional areas. The data should be displayed and analyzed at scales appropriate for 1:2,000,000-scale data. No responsibility is assumed by the U.S. Geological Survey in the use of these data.</purpose>
