Classifications are provided for level 1, 2, 3 and a few level 4 (indicated in Land use and Secondary Code fields) land uses. Please note: The field names in the original attribute table from FDEP/NWFWMD were renamed by the GeoPlan Center. The original field names from FDEP/NWFWMD are listed in the Process Steps (Data Quality Section) and in the Attribute Definitions (Entity and Attribute Information section). All Water Management District land use datasets distributed via FGDL will contain these standardized field names, for ease of using land use data at the statewide extent. Land Use - Land Cover information provides environmental scientists an understanding of the relationships between human activities, land surface physiography and water resources. A copy of the 2009-2010 NWFWMD database was used as a base in conjunction with 2012-2013 digital orthoimagery to update 2012-2013 database. Four new codes have also been added-- 8115: Grass Airports; 2100: Cropland and Pastureland; 1940: Grass Surface; and 1870: Stadiums (not in association with educational). One code (6540: Oyster Bars) was removed and polygons merged into adjoining polygons. A number of modification to existing code descriptions have also been made and these modifications can be sited in the Photo Interpreter Key assigned to the 2012-2013 data. Note: Roughly 1,650 acres of land in Alabama have been removed from the previous version and portions of Escambia and Santa Rosa County's northern land use polygons were extended northward matching the boundary with the statewide Cadastral data layer. Some coastal land was also added to this version, increasing the overall size of the database from the previous version. This is an update to the FGDL Layer LU_NWFWMD_2010.shp This dataset, created by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Division of Environmental Assessment and Restoration, is an inventory of Land Use - Land Cover classified in the State of Florida's Northwest Florida Water Management District. This imagery contains natural color orthophotos covering counties in north Florida (Leon County imagery between 1/29/2012-2/12/2012) and/or 2013 Florida digital orthoimagery captured from October 2012 till spring 2013.
