GeoPlan applied these boundaries to the existing Florida county boundaries shapefile, and created the field Region, to display the name of the region the county fell in. The Shapefile was created using the FGDL Albers HPGN map projection (See "Map Projection Parameters" below). GeoPlan 20030101 Process Steps for FDLE Region Boundary Locations: -Searched for FDLE regions in http://www.fdle.state.fl.us/ The County Bounday Shapefile for the state of florida (found on the FGDL website) was used as a base map. -A new field was created called Region. -Counties falling within the boundaries of each region were selected and in the Region field given the name of the region in which that county fell. -The shapefile was then dissolved based on the Region. -The Shapefile was created using the FGDL Albers HPGN map projection (See "Map Projection Parameters" below).
