During the QA/QC process the following tasks were undertaken:
- Cleaned DMSLAT + DMSLON fields through find & replace - Created separate deg/min/sec fields for both DMSLAT + LON
- Converted and added additional fields to convert min & sec to degrees min = x / 60 sec = x / 3600 (remove compass direction)
- Added the three degree fields for both DMSLAT/LON to create LATDEC and LONDEC fields.
- Cleaned accuracy field to fix field error (for example, 1:00 am to 1A) - Converted cleaned csv table to dbf through Table to dBASE
- Added spatial info by using the LATDEC and LONDEC fields and the Display XY function in ArcGIS Pro. (The projection in this tool was defined as WGS 84 per the README.PDF)
- The display file was exported to a file geodatabase using the Export Data function.
- The new layer was projected into the NAD 1983 FGDL Albers HARN projection. NOTE: This process resulted in less than 1 meter spatial shift in data point locations from the prior dataset.
- Recalculated the QUANTITY field of 225 features "E 1" to "1"
- DESCRIPT field added based on the TYPE field.
- FGDLAQDATE field added based on the date the dataset was downloaded from the source.
- The fields MGRS, LAT_DD, LONG_DD, and GOOGLEMAP were added
- The longest record for each field was calculated and field character lengths were shortened to the appropriate shortest length possible.
- Fields and records were uppercased.
