This dataset contains Basin Management Action Plan (BMAP) areas for the State of Florida. A BMAP (Basin Management Action Plan) is a water quality restoration plan prepared pursuant to Section 403.067(7) Florida Statutes. BMAPs are designed to reduce pollutant loadings to achieve the limitations identified in an adopted Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) through a comprehensive set of management strategies - permit limits on wastewater facilities, urban and agricultural best management practices, conservation programs, etc. These broad-based plans are developed with local stakeholders - they rely on local input and local commitment - and are adopted by Secretarial Order and are enforceable. This dataset is an update to the FGDL layer BMAP_AREA_MAY20.
To spatially represent the areas where a BMAP is being prepared and areas where a BMAP is adopted. The purpose of this layer to show the land areas subject to a BMAP and the water areas that are being restored.
BMAP Standing/Status Values: BMAP Adopted / Adoption Pending: BMAP Adopted - The BMAP has been adopted by the Secretary and stakeholder implementation is underway. Adoption Pending - A process to prepare a BMAP is underway; the BMAP is not yet adopted.

Existing BMAP Project shapefiles from the November 2010 update were edited, updated and merged into one streamlined shapefile. BMAP Project Boundaries consisting of multiple shapefile records were dissolved into shapefiles with single records. Updated boundaries were verified for accuracy by way of direct communication with Basin Coordinators. Corrections and adjustments were made as needed.

Added Wacissa BMAP boundary for Terry Hansen using spatial and tabular information from Talia Smith. Introduced Wekiwa Spring and Rock Springs as its own BMAP boundary and reintroduced the Wekiva River (Wekiva River, Rock Springs Run, and Little Wekiva Canal) BMAP boundary at the request of Moira Homann using data provided by Talia Smith. Added "TYPE" field at Greg DeAngelo's request. Its purpose is to distinguish between Spring BMAPs and Surface Water BMAPs (rivers, lakes, estuaries, etc.). Populated field with either a value of "Spring BMAP" or Surface Water BMAP. Renamed the value within the "STATUS" field from "BMAP Activities In Progress" to "Pending BMAPs" at Greg DeAngelo's request. Updated layer file to reflect this change.

Removed the two previous Caloosahatchee Estuary Basin boundaries {one for tidal (Adopted) and the other for river and estuary (Pending)} and replaced them with a single boundary. Changed Parameters to TN/TP and named it "Caloosahatchee River and Estuary Basin" in the PROJECT and DOC_NAME fields. Updated the St. Lucie boundary with a newly revised boundary. Sarah Davis reviewd and added the estuary to the St. Lucie boundary since it wasn't included in the boundary that was sent.
